a couple of things after I came back…
First of all, I miss Cuzco, Machu Picchu (I missed it even when I was still in Cuzco), and coca tea. I miss them a lot. I miss the meals in Arequipa. I miss the altitude and the hiking. I’m reading 1421 which was mentioned by both Michael White and an Israeli lady we met in Colca canyon, and I’m trying to teach myself Spanish.
About work… I was assigned to the research team in Autodesk, which means I will be working with Jos Stam on cloth simulation. I can’t say too much about work yet. The only thing that I’m certain is that it is and will be very technical, lots of math and physics. I hope I will be able to contribute. I will try my best. Meanwhile, I need to brush up things about compilers that I learnt in CS241. It’s coming next term.
I’m thinking of attending karate lessons in YMCA. After this trip I determined that I will take 4 months off after I get my master’s. Destinations will be Mexico (Maya culture), classical Inca trail and jungle (Manu) in Peru, national parks and Easter island in Chile, pyramids in Egypt, and Tibet in China. Of course, things will change during the next two years, but I need to be stronger, both physically and mentally.
So much to do, with so little time.
